In the afternoon, Dr Justin Coulson spoke to our Year 9- 11 girls and asked them to consider their feelings about being “enough”, then suggested specific strategies they can practice to move towards a positive sense of self so that they can do more than survive adolescence - they can thrive.

In the evening Dr Coulson spoke with parents and educators from across the region about 'Miss Connection' - why your daughter 'hates' you, expects the world and needs to talk at an adults only session design for uncensored discussion.

This significant event, was attended by parents, educators and those working with pre-teen girls through to young women from across the New England, North West Region in person and via Zoom livestream.

The event was open to all community members regardless of where their daughters go to school and is one of a series focusing on factors that impact the growth and development of young women in an increasingly technological, disconnected, digital and highly sexualised world.

Dr Coulson gave insight into the complex adolescent world of our tween and teenage daughters and discussed issues such as mental health concerns, body image issues, premature and/or non-consensual intimacy, friendship challenges, alcohol, drugs and social media.

Feedback from both the students and adults was fantastic with Justin's warm and engaging style coupled with his knowledge and vast research examples proving a winning combination.

"A brief thank you for a brilliant parent seminar from Justin Coulson. We joined via zoom and were thoroughly impressed with his research and advice, but also his life experiences as a ‘real dad’ to his six girls. It was fantastic. Thank you!"

"Excellent presentation. Thank you! My husband watched till the very end and enjoyed it too!"

"Thank you so much, very informative."

"Excellent - thank you!!"
